Volcanic Milos is the most westerly island of the Cyclades. Klima is a charming, unspoilt fishing village skirting a narrow beach below the settlement of Trypiti. Nearby you will discover Greece's only Christian catacombs. A sail around the island allows you to visit most of Milos' stunning beaches (many inaccessible by road), coves and geologically interesting places.
Upon entering the big Milos bay (where Adamas port is situated too) you can't miss the impressive rocky islets of Akradies. There are also a number of sea caves, such as Papafrangas and Sykia. Day trip boats from Adamas main port go every day to Kleftiko, the SW point of the island, not by coincidence. Again at the S coast close to the E point, the beach Paliochori is nice and protected from N winds and although there is no dock nearby you can stay overnight on the anchor (you can also find tavernas and a good beach bar ashore). Northwest of Milos is the uninhabited islet of Antimilos – nothing special to see there.

Mykonos, Delos & Rinia Islands
The island of Mykonos -picturesque, bright and white- is subject to high winds and rough seas on a fairly regular basis in the summer, and many times there is no dock space available for charter yachts in the new marina situated a mile N of the old ferry harbour.
The sailing yachts are the onle vessels permitted to sail when the strong N NW Meltemi wind is blowing and sailing charters can ensure you can for sure visit this famous island though it is wise to have an alternate plan in mind if Mykonos is on your itinerary.

Mykonos is the ultimate party island that attracts the rich & famous and those who want to be like them (or at least trendy enough). Restaurants and other services are expensive but if you're on a budget, there are reasonably priced places too. Pirates used to frequently invade into this island and centuries ago the residents built twisty, narrow lanes and alleyways to confuse them which nowdays it now contributes to the charm of the town. Most of the bars and restaurants are clustered around the harbour promising the wildest kind of night life in the Cyclades.

Santorini Island sailing yacht charter
What to say about Santorini island. Together with Mykonos it is the Greek island that most people know all around the world. Millions of photos, articles, posts have been written since 1960 when the island started gaining the reputation of a unique place.
It is really a great experience to sail your private charter yacht under the high red steep cliffs of the caldera.

Sailing in Greece - a true experience

Sailing in Santorini is not so easy, because there is no place to moor a yacht - except the small "fishing shelter" of Vlychada village at the South coast of the island.
Bareboat Sailing Greece Santorini little port in Vlychada

For yacht charters in the Cyclades with a local skipper EASY SAILING could organize sailing trips from and to Santorini island. The boats can be prepared, cleaned and checked in Athens or Paros charter base and the skipper and a mate can sail the sailboat to Santorini for pick-up or drop off.

Usually there is no space to moor in Vlychada fishing shelter and because there is no other alternative nearby, we recommend that sailing charter yachts moor safely in the port of Ios island and that people visit Santorini as a day trip from Ios. Such a plan can be easily carried out because there are many day-trip boats going from Ios to Santorini in the morning that return to Ios in the evening. Same thing can be also realized by one of the numerous ferries connecting the Cyclades islands.

The winds at the area of the south Cyclades and Santorini are not blowing as strong as they usually do in the northen part of the Greek islands (Mykonos, Paros etc.)

Syros Island

Yacht charters are usually operated from the nice little marina of Finikas onthe SW part of the island of SYROS. The big protected bay of the MAIN PORT called ERMOUPOLIS or Hermoupolis includes a newly built marina, but it seems that the yachtsmen do not prefer to go there mainly because of the distance between the marina and the main town. Other yachts select to moor on the Northern-most side of the port (on anchor , good holding) opposite the restaurants and cafe, but again the place is noisy and the sea is often confused making overnight unpleasant.

From the airport of Syros you can either take a taxi or the local bus to the main port. It is no more than 15 min. drive.

Both Ermoupolis and Finikas offer a wide range of yachting facilities such as
- Fuel (fuel mini-car-tanker will come to your boat)
- Water
- Power 220V
- Toilets/Showers (NOT in Ermoupolis)
- Chandlery store
- Supermarket
- Taxi station
- Bus station
- ATM / Cash points / Bank

If you moor in Ermoupolis, it is recommendable you take a walk up the three 3 hills of the main town and enjoy the wonderful view. Up the hills you will also find small tavernas that serve many "Mezes" (apetizer dishes) of traditional Greek tastes.

Donoussa, Iraklia, Koufonissia & Schinousa Islands

There are several small islands with a great history between Naxos and Amorgos, known as East Small Cyclades. They are all waiting to be discovered and the best way to see these little rock-pearls is to charter a sailing yacht. It is not by coincidence that many luxury fully crewed yachts include these islands in all their trips. Donoussa, Pano Koufonissi, Schinoussa, Iraklia are the populated islands and Keros and Kato Koufonissi are non-inhabited. Despite the strong North winds that blow in the so-called "small Cyclades" the whole area is considered a shelter for the sailing yachts mostly because the distances from one island to another is less than one hour sail and also because there are protected beautiful coves on the leeward side of the islands where the boats can anchor and overnight safely.

This is the little ferry that connects all the small Cyclades with Naxos island daily. Wind with Force 7 Beaufort makes boarding a tough task !!   Don't be afraid! It happens very often, people are used t to handle things smoothly even under more extreme conditions !!
