Syros Island

Yacht charters are usually operated from the nice little marina of Finikas onthe SW part of the island of SYROS. The big protected bay of the MAIN PORT called ERMOUPOLIS  or Hermoupolis includes a newly built marina, but it seems that the yachtsmen do not prefer to go there mainly because of the distance between the marina and the main town. Other yachts select to moor on the Northern-most side of the port (on anchor , good holding) opposite the restaurants and cafe, but again the place is noisy and the sea is often confused making overnight unpleasant.
From the airport of Syros you can either take a taxi or the local bus to the main port. It is no more than 15 min. drive.

Both Ermoupolis and Finikas offer a wide range of yachting facilities such as
- Fuel (fuel mini-car-tanker will come to your boat)
- Water
- Power 220V
- Toilets/Showers (NOT in Ermoupolis)
- Chandlery store
- Supermarket
- Taxi station
- Bus station
- ATM / Cash points / Bank

If you moor in Ermoupolis, it is recommendable you take a walk up the three 3 hills of the main town and enjoy the wonderful view. Up the hills you will also find small tavernas that serve many "Mezes" (apetizer dishes) of traditional Greek tastes.
